Christian Kerschbaumer is the name of the successful young winegrower and cellarman from the Garlider Estate in Feldthurns. As a youngster, his greatest passion was for motors and cars, he developed his love for wine by chance later in life. Today he is a successful, young businessman who cultivates his parent’s winery, Garlider.
Kerschbaumers Philosophy is to maintain the character of the vine and to distort the wine as little as possible so that one can taste where the wine comes from. This is one of the reasons he changed over to Biological agriculture and mainly uses indigenous yeast in his wine cellar.
Christian Kerschbaumer is, for the English wine critic and author Stuart Pigott, one of the successes of the Eisack valley: … „aboveall his white wines are top class. The Sylvaner has a creamy, salty and fresh taste, which gives the palate unusual vibes, something unusual for this type of wine. Add to this the tasty mindblowing hints of medicinal herbs and grasses. Just as dynamic is the Green Veltliner, the aromas jump out of the glass athletically and more intensely, with wonderful ripe, yellow fruits, but also a cooler, slightly iodine flavour, which unfolds more and more with each sip taken. As soon as the vines mature and the wine acquires a little more depth, we will have a great Italian Veltliner here which will be as refreshing as a „long, slim beauty queen from the North.“
